A BELIEF STATEMENT ABOUT JESUS

I believe that Jesus Christ, true God, begotten of the Father in eternity, and also true human being, born of the Virgin Mary, is my Lord. He has redeemed me, a lost and condemned person. He has purchased and freed me from all sins, from death and from the power of the devil, not with gold or silver but with his holy, precious blood and with his innocent suffering and death.

He has done all this in order that I may belong to him, live under him in his kingdom, and serve him in eternal righteousness, innocence, and blessedness, just as he is risen from the dead and lives and rules in eternity. This is most certainly true.

THE MEANING OF HOLY BAPTISM

What is baptism? Baptism is not simply plain water. Instead it is water used according to God’s command and connected with God’s word. What then is this Word of God? Where our Lord Jesus Christ says in Matthew 28:19, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
What gifts or benefits does Baptism grant? It brings about forgiveness of sins, redeems from death and the devil, and gives eternal salvation to all who believe it, as the Word and promise of God declare. What is this Word and promise of God? Where our Lord Jesus Christ says in Mark 16:16, “The one who believes and is baptized will be saved; but the one who does not believe will be condemned.”
