PETER PEBBLES

The Peter Pebble Memory Work Program was started in 1976.
For nearly twenty-five years volunteers at St. James have been painting wonderful
pictures on rocks and lettering each with an appropriate Bible verse. These beautifully
painted "Peter Pebbles" serve as the incentive for our Sunday School children to
memorize Bible verses, excerpts from the Lutheran Book of Worship, prayers, and
portions of Luther's Small Catechism. Each spring every Sunday school grade level is
given a specific assignment. Students work on this memory work at home with their
families and in class. When a student can successfully recite their memory work to a
teacher or superintendent.
