SPIRITUAL GIFT MINISTRY

 God created every person with all the tools needed to live an abundant life.  He gave each of us many talents that we call Spiritual Gifts to help us do His work on earth.  Through our Baptism we were called to be part of the body of Christ and to serve Him through our ordinary life.  The choices we make each day reflect who we are and the things that we hold important.  There are always many demands on our time and energy so it is important that when we choose to give our time and Gifts, it is the best fit possible.  At St. James we feel it is both a privilege and opportunity to offer back to God what he has so generously given you, in the form of giving time to the work of the church.  

 The purpose of Gift Based Ministry is to match members Gifts and skills to the volunteer opportunities at St. James.  People volunteer when what they believe in is matched with the Gifts they have, and they feel that what they do is important.

St James is in the process of working toward Gift based Ministry.  There are many teams working together toward the goal of having this project implemented in the spring of 2002.  Included in this project will be volunteer job descriptions, a volunteer opportunity handbook, Spiritual Gift Inventory and a computer system to match Gifts and skills with volunteer opportunities.  Throughout the coming year you will be hearing a great deal about this Ministry in church, and the bulletin/newsletter.  If you have questions or comments call 952-890-4534.

 

SPIRITUAL GIFT CLASSES
 Each of us is called, as a child of God to a life of service to God, we are so to speak “created and called”.  God would not ask us to do his work without equipping each of us with unique gifts.  Spiritual gifts are the belief that God has a wonderful plan for us and he has given us the tools to carry out His plan.  Our life is a journey of Gods design and not our own.

What each of us brings to this world is different.  We are unique because of the gifts God has given us.  I believe it is important to honor what it is about us that we have in common, but much more of a challenge to see things that divide us, as a blessing to be acknowledged. It is important to remember that God’s spirit is always in us, moving us in ways we cannot imagine.

You might ask how you can go about discovering what God’s call is for you?  Many times our purpose may not be clear to you, as so often is the case.  Our life is a journey that unfolds before you.  How it is that you choose your opportunities may well depend on how well you have been able to discern your gifts.

 So even as we struggle sometimes to find our place, it is important to remember that God’s spirit is always with us.  Sometimes the spirit moves in mysterious ways to bring into actuality those gifts that have always been there.  That is what will allow those passions and dreams to come to reality.

Spiritual Gift classes are held several times during the year. The classes are time that you give yourself to reflect on where you are in this journey of life, as a person of faith.  For more information call 952-890-4534
